Crunch Time for Leckhampton Fields

Residents fighting to save fields in Leckhampton from wide scale development have been hit a hammer blow. Officers working for Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Gloucester Councils have been working on a Joint Core Strategy to decide how much housing would be needed in the future and where it should go.

Fields in Leckhampton have been earmarked for 1,300 houses PLUS land alongside Farm lane is allocated for 350. In the much hated South West Regional Spatial Strategy the total for both these areas was 1300 so the JCS is proposing to force even more houses on our green fields. I am extremely angry that the views of local people have not been considered at all until this point.

When the consultation begins in December I hope people in all parts of Leckhampton will take an interest in it as the implications of such a massive new estate on our fringes will impact on all of us through increased traffic and access to senior school places at local senior schools.
