Two projects benefitting the Bath Rd area have received financial backing from the council. From a ‘Promoting Cheltenham’ fund the Borough Council’s Cabinet agreed to invest £4,000 towards the Bath Rd Christmas Lights switch on. The money will go towards making the Bath Rd look attractive and inviting during the festive period and a light switching on event.
The Bath Road - Connect My Street Community led project (submitted by Cheltenham Connect, Bath Rd Traders and the St Philips and St James Residents Association) was awarded £12,000 from the Environmental Improvements Fund to improve pedestrian movement and cycle parking and enhance the street scene.
These are great local initiatives and I am delighted Cabinet felt able to support them. We are all feeling the pinch and local councils do not have the money they used to but there are still opportunities like this that come up where relatively small amounts of money can make a huge difference when local people step up to the plate and get involved.
