Plans to develop Leckhampton fields received massive thumbs downs at consultation events

The consortium of developers who control land at Leckhampton and in neighbouring Shurdington (Land West of Farm Lane) have recently held three public exhibitions on plans for approximately 1,300 houses on the fields in the area. Also included in the plans are a new primary school, a new GP surgery, a care home or cottage hospital, local shops allotments and protected green space.

Almost 900 people attended the 3 consultation event, with many taking part in exit polls undertaken by the Leckhampton Green Land Action Group (LEGLAG). 887 people took part in the LEGLAG poll with 837 saying they were strongly opposed to the proposals, 26 were in favour of the development while 24 took a neutral position. At the last exhibition, which was held at Leckhampton Primary School, 312 people said they were opposed – out of a total of 328 respondents.

Many people are extremely anxious about the potential development, with the impact on the environment, increased traffic, flooding and worries about school places being some of the main concerns. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the exhibition the developers have a website where you can find out more - http://www.leckhamptonconsultation.com

If you are concerned and aren’t already a member of LEGLAG (Leckhampton Green Land Action Group - http://www.leglag.co.uk) now is the time to join and to get involved in the campaign to save the fields here!
