Below is an appeal from County Community Projects for donations for their Hamper Scamper campaign, I hope you can support this:
Christmas is always seen as a special time of year, but this is not the case for many disadvantaged children, young people families and vulnerable adults.
Many lone adults miss out on Christmas simply because they have nobody to care for them at this time of year. The expense and expectation can also place a real strain on families living in poverty, as many cannot afford even the basic festive goodies which most of us take for granted, including food and Christmas presents for their loved ones. The pressure on people to provide such gifts leads to many getting further into debt, which can last for years and only acts to make their lives even harder.
Through our Hamper Scamper food and gift appeal, CCP aspires to bring the spirit of Christmas to hundreds of disadvantaged children, young people, families and vulnerable adults, including those who are homeless and alone. Hamper Scamper relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers. This year, we aim to distribute 200 food hampers, 700 gifts, 100 goodie bags, 150 boxes of chocolates, and 70 gift vouchers, but in order to do that we need your help. We need food items to include in the hampers such as chocolates, selection boxes, Christmas puddings and cakes, crackers and mince pies, as well as food staples such as rice and pasta, tinned meat and fish, and tinned puddings and custard.
Members of the public, businesses, churches, schools, and community groups, are invited to join this year’s Hamper Scamper campaign. You can help us by donating food directly into one of our hampers at Cheltenham First Stop at 301-305 High Street, or at our Head Office at 15 Royal Crescent, Cheltenham, doing a food collection at your place of work, school, church or club, or making a financial donation.
