Parking solutions a step further forward

The county council, who are responsible for all road schemes, have carried out a survey of residents in ‘East Cheltenham’, which includes parts of Charlton Park, College and All Saints Wards near the town centre.

This is the first area in Gloucestershire to be reviewed. It is regarded as the top priority for residents parking. The review is intended to assess the need for new residents parking schemes and possible demand for changes to existing ones.

As part of the original consultation residents living in the Southgate area, Sandford Mill Rd, Keynsham Rd and other side roads off the London Rd were asked their views. I recently met with county officers to discuss the feedback and go though draft proposals for the future.
Plans for yellow lines in Southgate Drive are being progressed separately and are due to be installed by the beginning of October (weather permitting). I have urged County Officers to put forward a residents parking scheme for one side of Sandford Mill Rd which local people support and they have agreed to this. The next stage is for consultation meetings with residents to collect informal feedback prior to any formal advertising of proposed plans.
