Application to sell late night kebab and burgers from a van in College Road withdrawn

A licensing application seeking to sell burgers, chips and kebabs from a mobile food van in Cheltenham has been withdrawn following  a raft of objections.

The application for a mobile catering unit selling hot foods from 6pm onward next to the entrance to Sandford Park ornamental garden, College Road was  met with opposition due to the concerns about noise, smells and litter.

This application was hugely worrying because the site proposed is so close to neighbouring residential property. The plans were to sell hot food from a mobile catering unit parked on the road right in front of the formal gardens and fountain at Sandford Park.

The application was clearly unacceptable for so many reasons, including the potential for noise and anti social behaviour in the area late at night.

I understand the police objected as did local residents. The fact it was withdrawn so swiftly is very welcome, common sense has  prevailed but it is a shame that this was put forward in the first place
