Gloucestershire County Council is encouraging drivers to slow down and stick to advisory speed limits.
Over the past week during the hotter weather Gloucestershire County Council has had issues with roads that have been recently surface dressed.
The hot temperatures can stop the surface setting as quickly as normal and some Gloucestershire roads have been affected.
The council say they are monitoring every road that has been treated in the past few weeks. Where problems have been identified, extra warning signs have been put up to make drivers aware of the change in road surface and to reduce the speed limit to 20mph.
At the same time, they are also using grit and dust to take some of the moisture off the road. I think this also applies to Kidnappers Lane as that has a covering of dust/grit but it doesn't look like the road surface underneath is any better than it was so I need to double check.
However, the council is receiving reports that people are ignoring the temporary speed limits. Having driven along Kidnappers this evening I can confirm that you do need to go along there at very low speeds to avoid skidding on the grit there.
The issues with the roads should reduce as the weather gets cooler, but in the mean time they will continue to monitor the situation and take action wherever they need to.
