Mead Road and Mead Close to be resurfaced in 2012/12 financial year

It has been some time now since I first asked for Mead Road to be resurfaced. Although in a suburban area it is well used by commercial vehicles and lorries accessing the trading estates in that area. In recent years the road surface here has got appalling in places, particularly near the junction with Churchill Road.

Mead Close which is accessed from Mead Road is also in very poor condition with long standing local residents being unable to recall it ever being properly resurfaced.

Earlier in the year Gloucestershire Highways said that Mead Road would be resurfaced in the 2012-13 financial year but they would not undertake the resurfacing of Mead Close. I asked them to reconsider and I know some local residents also contacted Glos Highways too.

I was therefore delighted to hear back yesterday from the new Stakeholder Manager for Cheltenham that Mead Close will be resurfaced at the same time. This makes sense and is very welcome.
