Hewlett Road - road works will bring improvement but watch out for temporary road closure

The County Council will shortly be carrying out road works on Hewlett Road. The works will involve:

  • Replacing sections of kerbing between Hewlett Place and Albion Street
  • Remodelling the pedestrian crossing located at the junction between Duke Street and All Saints Road
  • Carriageway resurfacing
The work is due to commence on the 16th January and should be completed by the 14th February (weather permitting).

Unfortunately, the road width and type of work being undertaken means that, to ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce, it will be necessary to close the road to traffic between the 23rd January and the 14th February. The work outside of the closure dates will be undertaken under temporary traffic signals.

The work will take place between 09:00hrs and 16:30hrs apart from when work is being undertaken to the pedestrian crossing, when the road will be closed for the entire duration (23 January to 3 February) due to the road widths and closeness of the works to the roundabout.

Vehicular access will be extremely limited due to the nature of the work and size of machinery to be used. Should you require any assistance with access or egress to your property please speak to the operatives on site who will assist in any way they can. Please allow extra time for any journeys that you need to make.

Please note that parking on the affected road will be prohibited during the works. Should any vehicles remain on the highway every effort will be made to contact the owners, however in order to avoid unnecessary costly delays, any vehicles causing a disruption to the works may be removed by specialist removal company to a secure area where the vehicles will remain until collected by the owner. Should you find that your vehicle has been removed, please contact us on 08000 514514 where we will explain how to collect your vehicle. You can also call that number for any other enquries.
