Cheltenham Borough Council is urging residents to recycle as much as possible through their kerbside schemes and the bring banks this Christmas.
To help make this as simple as possible, the refuse, recycling and garden waste collections in Cheltenham will be made on the normal scheduled collection days over Christmas and New Year 2010/11. This means that some collections will be made on some of the bank holiday days.
Christmas trees: Until 28 January 2011, Christmas trees up to five feet or one and a half metres tall can be left out whole with the garden bags for residents who are on the council's garden waste scheme. Trees larger than this can be cut down and put in the green waste bags for collection. The council also accepts Christmas trees at its Swindon Road recycling centre.
Christmas cards can be put into the kerbside recycling boxes, recycled at the cardboard banks at bring sites around the town or at the Swindon Road Recycling Centre.
Wrapping paper: Unfortunately, wrapping paper cannot be accepted for recycling as it is often dyed or laminated, or contains non-paper additives such as gold and silver coloured shapes; glitter and plastics cannot be recycled.
The Swindon Road Recycling Centre will be open as follows:
Friday 24 December 2010 7.30am to 4pm
Saturday 25 December 2010 Closed
